An innovative new approach to Social Work education at the University of Newcastle
Make a difference - become a social worker
Qualified social workers are in-high demand. This program will provide you with an authentic learning experience and practical skills to prepare you for a meaningful career.
In July 2025 the University of Newcastle will launch a new two-year post-graduate program that will allow graduates to qualify as social workers. With an innovative flexible learning model and experience based curriculum the program will provide students with everything they need to find work in this growing and vital sector.
Students wanting to start in 2025 will need to have an undergraduate degree with some psychology and sociology. From 2026 a ‘bridging’ qualification, the Graduate Certificate in Human and Social Services will provide a pathway for students not meeting this pre-requisite.
The Master Social Work Qualifying has been provisionally accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers.
