Sustainability is at the core of the University’s values and the latest rankings from Times Higher Education Impact Rankings show the university continues to be a world leader in sustainability.

Africa Day is celebrated every year on 25 May since 1963 in African countries and by Africans around the world to commemorate the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity.

The Centre for African Research, Engagement and Partnerships (CAREP) is involved in two exciting research projects that highlight the University’s engagement priorities especially infinding practical ways to build stronger and more inclusive communities and improving the health and wellbeing of people here in our regions and around the world.

I was shocked to hear from women undergraduate students that they received misogynistic comments from their male peers. I thought that the current generation of males were well past such prejudice. I was obviously wrong. No wonder that core programs such as Electrical, Civil or mechanical engineering still only average around 15% of females.

Researchers from the School of Information and Physical Sciences impressed the University’s Non-Traditional Research Output (NTRO) Committee recently with an innovative software package for analysing mathematical structures. This is the University’s first software output and has been confirmed by the Committee as being recognised internationally.
