Justice Innovation Symposium
On Friday 9 December 2022, the Centre for Law and Social Justice hosted its Justice Innovation Symposium at the University of Newcastle NUspace campus.
The symposium brought together academics, lawyers, advocates and other interested persons to discuss topics varying from:
- Innovation, vulnerability and cultural context
- Issues and opportunities presented by technological innovation
- Regulation and governance approaches to technological innovation
The Symposium consisted of thirteen presentations, with representation from eight institutions and attracted an audience of 40+ persons. The keynote titled 'Justice Innovation - What's Next?' was delivered by Professor Tania Sourdin and explored the perceptions and objectives of justice, trends in innovation and future options, contradictory shifts in relation to technology, global commerce and the increasing focus on therapeutic and restorative justice approaches.
