Solidarity and Subversion in Wartime South Africa
During the Second World War, more than six million servicemen and more than 300,000 civilians spent time in South Africa, a transport hub for Allied operations and a base for military training.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
