Literacy Apps Win Innovation Award
Associate Professor Erica Southgate with Dr Shamus Smith have been awarded a 2017 ASCILITE Innovation Award for “The literacy apps project: Serious games and information apps to improve adult literacy”.

Flooding in Australia – are we properly prepared for how bad it can get?
University of Newcastle's Centre for Water, Climate and Land was successful in securing funding from the Australian Research Council (ARC) for a Discovery Project to investigate how floods have varied over the past 2000 years and what effect they could have on Australia in the future.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
