UON Represents on new school of entrepreneurship board
NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional New South Wales, Skills and Small Business John Barilaro today announced the inaugural board for the Sydney School of Entrepreneurship (SSE), the prestigious new partnership between all 12 NSW tertiary institutions.

Leading the change
As leaders across UON have been communicating to staff, the organisational review and design work is progressing at pace. Late last year, a thorough and in depth investigation of our existing structures and functions was completed, laying the ground work for defining and clarifying accountabilities and responsibilities across UON. This piece of work, referred to as a RACI matrix, is all but complete and once endorsed by the Vice-Chancellor, will be the backbone of the redesign.

Plankton species at risk from climate change
A significant study involving the University of Newcastle (UON) has revealed certain species of plankton have moved substantially and depleted in number over the past six decades due to rising sea temperatures, causing serious concern for the marine ecosystem.

UON Fulbright Scholarship Success
Fulbright Scholarships, funded by sponsors and the Australian and United States of America (US) governments, support researchers to travel to the US in Postdoctoral, Postgraduate or Professional capacities. Some 5,000 Australians have completed scholarships since the Australian-American Fulbright Commission was established 67 years ago.

High-flow oxygen boost for bronchiolitis treatment
A study conducted at the John Hunter Children’s Hospital has found that the use of a new oxygen treatment, so-called high-flow oxygen therapy, can support more children with bronchiolitis for longer and rescue most of those children who failed the standard oxygen treatment, preventing a large number of admissions to the paediatric intensive care unit.
