Prestigious Cambridge Scholarship
University of Newcastle Electrical Engineering graduate Kumaran Nathan has received a prestigious 2014 General Sir John Monash Scholarship, worth up to $150,000 over three years, to study at the University of Cambridge. Presented by The Honourable Tony Abbott MP, Prime Minister of Australia at a ceremony at The Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne, the scholarship will allow Mr Nathan to undertake pioneering work alongside the best of the world in his field.

The University community remembers Reynold (Reyn) Gilbert Keats, our first Chair of the Department of Mathematics, and the founding Dean when the Faculty of Mathematics was established in 1971.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
