Year 11 Business Plan Challenge
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the 2013 Business Plan Challenge grand final was held on Friday 15 November with over $20,000 worth of scholarships and prizes on offer.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the 2013 Business Plan Challenge grand final was held on Friday 15 November with over $20,000 worth of scholarships and prizes on offer.
The four finalists were given 15 minutes to pitch their business plan to the judging panel, Robert Allen, Senior Management Accountant, Vice-Chancellor's Division; Trent Bagnall, Director, Slingshot; and Professor Alison Dean, Head of Newcastle Business School.
The finalists, from St Columbia Anglican School, Danebank High School, Sefton High School and Hunter Valley Grammar School, were chosen from 426 entries from around the State and after strong competition the winner was announced as Ben Robinson from St Columbia Anglican School in Port Macquarie. Ben's concept, the JamVan, a high quality, accessible recording service for musicians within the Port Macquarie and surrounding region was supported by a detailed business plan.
The Director of the Business Plan Challenge, Dr Michael Seamer, said, "Ben's product was both innovative and focused on an unmet market demand. He clearly showed the business was viable and his plan covered all details including finance, marketing and legal aspects. Ben's tech savvy presentation included his own video advertisement, was cutting edge and appealed to both audience and judges alike."
