Glossary of partnership types
Memorandum of Understanding (general)
Type of agreement in which both parties express their interest in engaging in academic collaboration including student and staff exchanges.
Pathway
Type of agreement that has assessed the partner institution's program as eligible for direct entry or a particular range of courses for equivalency and approved for credit towards a specific program.
Credit
Type of agreement that has assessed prior learning of the partner institution program or courses and approved a range of courses for equivalency and approved credit towards a specific program.
Articulation
Type of agreement where a partner institution's program is assessed for equivalency and it is determined what years of the program the student completes of their name institution before completing and being awarded the program at the University of Newcastle. This can be referred as a 1 + 3, 2 + 2, 3 + 1 agreement.
Dual Degree
A type of agreement whereby both institutions assess the courses of a specific program for equivalency and approve credit for specified course undertaken at the partner institution and the student after studying at both institutions is awarded a degree from both institutions (two degrees).
Exchange
A type of agreement where both partner institutions agree to host students on reciprocal arrangements with tuition fee waivers for one or two semesters. Students receive approved credit for studies undertaken at the host institution.
Study Abroad
A type of agreement where a partner institution's student completes one of two semesters study as a fee paying student at the University of Newcastle and the courses undertaken are recognised for for credit at the partner institution.
Offshore Delivery
A type of agreement that details the terms of delivering one partners program or courses at the other partner institution.
