The Strategic Procurement team undertakes select or open approaches to market for high value, service critical, complex or high-risk procurements.

Where tenders are issued to a select market following market analysis and risk assessment, the identified suppliers will be directly invited to participate in the tender process and will be required to register with the University of Newcastle’s electronic procurement platform eProcure

Where tenders are issued to an open market, the opportunity will be advertised on University of Newcastle’s electronic procurement platform eProcure

Tender Procedure

The University of Newcastle is committed to maintaining probity throughout its procurement process, based on the principles of fairness, equity, value for money and best practice.

The University’s Tender Procedure supports all complex, high risk and/or high value tenders (contract value greater than $250,000 excluding GST),

University staff and authorised representatives undertaking or participating in procurement activities are bound by our Ethical Framework and must uphold the following probity principles:

  • Ensure compliance with the University Procurement Policy and Procedures.
  • Ensure conformity with the approved Procurement Plan and this Evaluation Plan.
  • Ensure that the interest of suppliers is protected by a transparent and equitable process.
  • Ensure that security and confidentiality of the process is maintained.
  • Ensure that the procurement process and recommendation are documented and defensible.
  • Preserve public and supplier confidence in the University’s procurement processes and governance.
  • Avoid fraud and corruption, through the appropriate management of conflicts of interest and code of conduct.
