University of Newcastle alumni Caik Leng Chua and LP Yap run a successful architectural practice in Kuala Lumpur. When looking to recruit, they turned to the University of Newcastle to find their next talented architect, Nur Saliza Zakaria.
One thing they all have in common is that they appreciate the practical way the University helped prepare them for the challenges of a career in architecture. Caik Leng Chua remembers keeping a ‘journal of an actual construction site’ for a year and the insights it gave him about materials and the reality of construction. For Nur Saliza Zakaria, it was additional classes that helped develop her confidence and presentation skills that really have helped her career.
