Getting around campus at night
Its always great to be able to walk around campus with friends, but sometimes individual study needs mean you may have to walk alone. To ensure you feel safe getting around campus at night we have a number of suggestions:
- walk around using the identified Recommended Paths
- use the identified Patrolled Paths when walking through the campus
- catch the Security Shuttle Service to get you home at night
- call for a Safe Walk Service if you feel unsure
Callaghan has a identified a number of paths that are well trafficked and have a combination of enhanced lighting, CCTV surveillance, wide paths and reduced vegetation which we have called Recommended Paths. We encourage you choose these Recommended Paths when walking around the campus at night.
You can find the Recommended Paths map on the MyUON app. The app also allows you to see your location in real time to help you find the right paths along with the Security Help Points in case you need to contact security along the way.
You can also see the Recommended Paths map here (PDF).
To help you get around Callaghan campus at night our Safety and Security Services team are walking a number of key cross campus paths between 12pm – 12am seven days a week. These identified patrolled paths are in addition to our normal campus patrols and provide a friendly face at night when getting across campus to our libraries or your bus home.
You can find the Patrolled Paths map on the MyUON app. The app also allows you to see your location in real time to help you find the right paths along with the Security Help Points in case you need to contact security along the way.
See the patrolled paths map here (PDF).
