Exam formats
If your exam is scheduled in the formal exam period, it will take place in one of the following formats:
- Online Invigilated Exam (Fixed Start) – Your exam may be Open Book, Restricted Open Book or Closed Book. The resources available for each exam will be listed in the Exam timetable. You will need to access a zoom link to complete your exam. The zoom link and exam can be found in the Canvas course site under "Modules" and formal exam. The exam will become available on the scheduled date and time on the exam timetable. You will be required to complete the exam within an allocated period of time advised in your exam timetable. All students complete the exam at the same time regardless of time zone.
- On Campus Exam – The exam will be held on campus and your venue will be available in your personalised exam timetable approximately 4 weeks before the exam period.
- Online Open Book Exam – Your exam permits unlimited resources (excluding the use of AI). The exam may have a fixed start time or a flexible start window for you to complete the exam. Your exam timetable will advise if the exam has a fixed or flexible start time.
- Centrally Scheduled School Based Assessment – This is an assessment administered by the School and timetabled to ensure your exam period is clash free.
After your exam, you may be required to take part in an interview for quality assurance purposes. The interview will be with one or perhaps two staff conducted via Zoom, and will last approximately 10 minutes.
During this time, you will be asked questions about the answers you have provided in the examination. For instance, you may be asked about the workings of a calculation or the rationale behind the way you structured an essay. This will help us verify your knowledge of a topic, demonstrate its your own work and also provide important feedback to staff to help them make enhancements to future examination papers.
