Course Coordinators
Course Coordinators play a crucial role in supporting you throughout your placement journey. Whether you have questions about assessments, course requirements, placement hours, or if you are unsure where to seek support, course coordinators are there to provide guidance and clarity. As the experts on the course, they can ensure that you receive the help you need to navigate your placement successfully. You can find the Course Coordinators information in your course Canvas site.
Placement Coordinators
Some courses are also supported by a Placement Coordinator (usually for health, education and social work). These are staff who are responsible for coordinating placements experiences or activities for a discipline, program, or course. Occasionally, your Placement Coordinator may also be your Course Coordinator. If you have a Placement Coordinator, you can find their information in your course Canvas site.
Industrial Experience Coordinators
Students in an engineering, surveying, or construction management degree who are required to undertake Industrial Experience are supported by an Industrial Experience Coordinator. Like Course Coordinators, these staff help to ensure you meet the Industrial Experience requirements of your degree. Contact information for Industrial Experience Coordinators can be found on the College of Engineering, Science and Environment’s website.
Professional Experience Support Coordinators specialise in assisting Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP) students to overcome challenges or barriers that may impact their ability to undertake placements.
Additionally, they offer tailored support to all students, helping you to navigate the student placement system Sonia Online, meet mandatory requirements, and access a range of University of Newcastle support services.
Each College has a dedicated Professional Experience Support Coordinator, and you are encouraged to reach out via email:
