Description
This course is designed to provide students with an underpinning working knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS). Using theoretical and evidence-based approaches to investigate and analyse how safe systems of work are applied in contemporary workplaces as well as considering the influence of human behaviour on WHS. Students will develop essential skills to implement and maintain effective health and safety in their workplace.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate the ability to access a range of theoretical and evidence-based information sources required to manage health and safety in a workplace environment.
2. Analyse how organisational and human behavioural / relationship factors influence health and safety in the workplace.
3. Analyse implemented systems of work for their effectiveness as well as their ability to align with legislation and guidelines
4. Analyse and apply performance measures to monitor and improve health & safety outcomes.
5. Explain, analyse and apply a range of basic incident investigation techniques in their workplace.

- Introduction to WHS management and leadership theories
- Incident causation and investigation
- Performance measures to monitor and improve health and safety
