All Cultures Weave
On Monday 10th July, the All Cultures Weave Artwork was officially launched in NUspace.
The All Cultures Weave artwork is a collaborative artwork that speaks to traditional cultural practices from all nations and has been designed using Australian First Nation knowledges around collective art-making and weaving. Individual weavings were made by International students from 30+ countries who came together at the City of Newcastle International Student Welcome held in March 2023.
The All Cultures Weave artwork has been designed to take in First Nation perspectives and meanings around place, history and the first inhabitants of Muloobinba (Newcastle), a place of sea ferns. This was further complimented by international students’ individual art pieces woven together, indicative of their own cultural styles and practices.
