Welcome to Cultural Collections, incorporating the University Archives, Rare Books and Special Collections. It is the home of the historical and cultural memory of the University and its regional context. We are located on level 2 of the Auchmuty Library, University of Newcastle, Australia. Our opening hours are 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
Our Vision
Our role is to protect and safeguard the documentary history of the University and its regional context for current research and for future generations.

- a very large database of photographs showing the history of the University and that of the Newcastle, Hunter and Lake Macquarie regions on our popular Flickr site
- the University Archives, including those of the University and the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle. Here you will also find Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Faculty handbooks from previous years.
- the Digital Scriptorium, which links to thousands of digitised items
- the Mayfield Website
- historical information about the names and places of the University
