GPA calculator

Your grade point average (GPA) is the average result of all your grades and is calculated on a 7-point grading scale. 7 being the highest (HD), and 0 is the lowest (fail).

The GPA calculator can help you determine if you are eligible for scholarships, programs such as Honours or admission to other universities.

How it works

1. Identify what grade you received for each course

GradesValue
HD High Distinction 7
D Distinction 6
C Credit 5
P Pass 4
UP Ungraded pass 4*
F Fail 0

*Ungraded passes (UP) are not usually included in the calculation of a GPA, for exceptions see the GPA Calculation Guideline.

You may also see the following Administrative Codes listed on your academic record, these codes are not included in the GPA calculation.

Administrative codes
I Incomplete
S Special Considerations
NA Not Applicable
WW Withdrawn Without Penalty
EX Credit Awarded

2. Enter the total units for each grade and click on calculate GPA

Example calculation

Sally studied 24 courses attempting a total of 250 units, she achieved 240 units of passes and 10 units of fails.

She received a Credit in 15 courses worth 10 units each (150 units), Distinction in 7 courses worth 10 units each (70 units) and a High Distinction in 1 course worth 20 units (20 units). Sally Failed one of her courses too (10 units).

Typically, courses are 10 units, however some are 20 units. You can check the number of units in your course through the course handbook.

This is how she would complete the form:
