Project Design and Evaluation

The course will introduce students to designing projects, social programs and their evaluation. This will include some of the research activities, techniques and applications necessary for designing, implementing and appraising social programs.

ObjectivesThe specific objectives are to provide students with the knowledge and skills to assess the extent and severity of problems requiring social interventions; design programs to ameliorate social problems; assess the utility of new programs and initiatives; and assess the merits of existing programs and attempts to improve them. Students will develop the ability to increase the effectiveness of program management and administration; satisfy accountability requirements of program sponsors; and maximise the use of evaluation results to improve programs.
