Exercise Physiology Clinic
Located at the University of Newcastle’s Central Coast campus, the Exercise Physiology Clinic has been designed to offer high-quality, low cost care to the local community, while also providing a training facility for postgraduate students within the University’s Master of Exercise Physiology program.
Scheduled to open in late August 2020, our student-led clinic will prescribe and deliver effective, scientifically proven exercise interventions to help manage and treat a broad range of disease and injury conditions.
What services are provided?
The clinic will provide effective exercise strategies developed with the clients individuals needs and requirements. The clinic specialties include health ageing, return-to-sport, work fitness and chronic disease management.
Services will be delivered by our Masters of Exercise Physiology students under the supervision of Accredited Exercise Physiologists or directly by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist.
Students will gain hands-on and diverse experience in the practice of exercise physiology, and be exposed to patients of all ages, and with varied fitness levels.
The clinic will also provide placement opportunities so that our students can apply their specialised skills in exercise physiology practice, assessment and intervention to real-life cases.
During the clinic placement shifts, students will gain experience in professional practices such as initial assessment, exercise prescription, exercise delivery, case note documentation, case conferencing and administration duties using the practice management systems.
