Betty Josephine Fyffe Tamworth Nursing & Midwifery Scholarship
Donor
This is a donor-funded scholarship from the late Mrs. Betty Josephine Fyffe.Establishment
Scholarship for students based at the University of Newcastle Tamworth Campus studying a Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Midwifery, or Master of Midwifery (Graduate Entry) program.
Betty Fyffe was a local Tamworth girl who grew up in the surrounds of her father’s chemist shops. Betty had an absolute passion for Nursing and her strong feelings for St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney where she trained and spent many years providing nursing treatment.
Betty leaves this legacy as her way of trying to improve the education of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals in training with hope that some will return to the country areas to practice their profession.
We hope that all recipients of a Betty Josephine Fyffe Scholarship will be as passionate about their career as she was about nursing.
Applicable to regional and remote, nursing, midwifery.

Selection
Selection is a competitive process based on assessment of the scholarship application, supporting documentation, and the eligibility criteria for the scholarship.
Selection will be made by the Scholarships Office with consideration of the eligibility criteria and any additional factors relevant to the purpose of the scholarship, in this order:
- All eligibility criteria for the scholarship being met;
- Regional and/or remote disadvantage;
- Academic merit.
All applicants will be notified of their application outcome via email, within 6–10 weeks of the scholarship closing date.
Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee receipt of a scholarship. Scholarship selection is competitive and is based on the relevant selection criteria, the number of eligible applicants, and the scholarships available.
Applicants who are unsuccessful in one offer round may still be considered for later rounds within the same scholarship year, where applicable, and are encouraged to apply for future opportunities.
