MACH Energy Mount Pleasant Operations

Establishment

MACH Energy supports education and career paths within their local communities to ensure vital services such as health are available. They understand that rural students can face barriers to study and are excited to support students by funding this scholarship.

It is the intention of MACH Energy to build ongoing relationships with scholars, including opportunities for community engagement and professional networking opportunities during their degree program.

Applicable to regional and remote, medicine, medical science, Joint Medical Program.


Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you will need to:

  • Be enrolled in 2nd, 3rd, 4th year of the Bachelor of Medical Science/Doctor of Medicine (Joint Medical Program) with the University of Newcastle
  • Be intending to study on a full-time basis (minimum 60 units per year).
  • Demonstrate that your study is affected, or will be affected, by regional or remote disadvantage. Preference will be given to students who reside in the Upper Hunter electorate, particularly those who would return to the region to work.
  • Demonstrate satisfactory progression through your degree with no failed units.
  • Be an Australian citizen.

Required Documentation

Required documents will be listed on the ‘Your Documents’ page of your application. The application portal accepts PDF only. A maximum of 3 PDF smaller than 5 MB can be added per document type upload field.

  • A personal statement (approx. 1 A4 page) outlining your academic achievements, career aspirations in the relevant area of study, and how this scholarship would assist you. This statement will cover all scholarships you are submitting for.
  • Option to provide up to 3 documents which show your commitment to leadership within your community, such as a reference, proof of volunteering and community activities, leadership panel or club membership, articles or publication.
  • You may be required to provide documents to support your educational challenges and personal circumstances. These will be identified when you apply based on your individual application responses.
  • The application will include a free text question asking you to outline your interest in associated future opportunities with this donor and/or Industry partner.

Benefit

This scholarship is $15,000 for a term of one year provided ongoing eligibility is maintained for the term of the scholarship.

The scholarship will be paid as $7,500 each semester.

Payments are typically received 2–3 weeks after the semester census date, or 2–3 weeks after you accept your offer if the census date has already passed.


Selection

Selection is a competitive process and will be based on assessment of the scholarship application and any required supporting documents, with reference to the eligibility criteria.

Applicants will be shortlisted based upon assessment of educational disadvantage. A panel interview of shortlisted candidates may then be conducted by the College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing Selection Panel and an external donor representative.
