Current Research
My dissertation is part of the ELDTA project "Complex Predicates in Australian and Oceanic Languages". The aim of my dissertation is to determine the semantic implications and syntactic features of complex predicates and serial verb constructions (SVC) in Vurës, a language spoken in northern Vanuatu, and in Wagiman, a moribund language of northern Australia.
Academic Background
I received both my BA and MA degree from the Goethe University of Frankfurt in Germany. My bachelors thesis was titled Language Contact: Malay Influence on Thai (2013) and the title of my masters thesis was A Description of Surabayan Javanese with Special Reference to its Linguistic Etiquette (2017). I have done field work in Lembata, Indonesia and published a brief overview of the grammar of Eastern Atadei (also called Painara or South Lembata language), which is often considered a dialect of Lamaholot. I argue that it constitutes a language on its own.
Research Interests
My research interests include linguistic typology, historical linguistics, etymology, and morphosyntax in Southeast Asian and Australian languages, especially Thai, Javanese, and Lamaholot. I like to study and teach various writing systems.

[more] Two nominals in a genitive construction in Javanese are typically linked by the suffix -é in the low speech level and by -ipun in the high level, both of which are derived from the third person possessive suffix. There is a third suffix which links two nominals, namely -ing, which has so far received little attention in the literature. In this article, I present a syntactic and historical analysis of the suffix -ing. Of particular concern are four types of genitive constructions which permit the use of -ing, as opposed to two constructions where this suffix cannot be used.
