Could the current academic calendar remain in place?

The University is reviewing the academic calendar to better meet the needs of our diverse student body and reduce overall operational complexity. To create a more flexible schedule, the University’s Executive Leadership team has endorsed either Option A or B for implementation in 2026. Hence, the University plans to move away from our current academic calendar from 2026.

The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
