Student support

Student Support for Professional Practice (SSPP)

The SSPP program provides support to students who are experiencing personal difficulties in their progress through the JMP. Wherever students are based in the program, trained staff members meet with students to understand the student’s situation, and provide tailored timely advice to enable them to achieve their goals. This can include:

  • Offers of academic mentors, advice on study techniques, help with elective choices
  • Assistance in obtaining mental health assessment and treatment where this might be useful
  • Help with accessing psychologists and counsellors
  • Information about applying for special consideration for assessments in the JMP
  • Information about Reasonable Adjustment (UON) or Study Access (UNE) Plans
  • Advice about applying for leave in the program
  • Discussion about how university services may help such as the Student Access and Inclusion (UNE), Accessibility (UON), International Student Support Office or Student Financial Services

The SSPP program is designed to be supportive, personal and confidential. Here is a video which promotes the program.
