University Scholars Leadership Symposium


UON Global are offering 20 students a $1000 scholarship to represent the University of Newcastle at the University Scholars Leadership Symposium in Vietnam, from August 1 to 7, 2016.

The Symposium will see a culmination of 1,000 student leaders from over 45 countries around the world discuss humanitarian issues and provide the next generation leaders with valuable life skills and knowledge to realise their full potential as agents of change through motivational talks by renowned international trainers and inspiring lectures by experienced humanitarian leaders.

The Symposium will also enable the students to participate in a ‘poverty simulation’ as well as undertake a full day humanitarian activity engaging with the local communities in Vietnam.

Scholarship Benefits



  • Program cost – approx. $1300 (includes accommodation, meals and access to all lectures. More details here
  • Return flights approx. $1000
  • Miscellaneous expenses


  • Open to all domestic and international students both undergraduate and post graduate aged between 18 - 30
  • GPA of 5 or above

Selection Criteria

  • Outline any leadership positions you   have held in both the university and local community. (150 words maximum)
  • What is your motivation for attending   the Symposium and what do you hope to achieve. (200 words maximum)
