Sion’s passion for quality healthcare
With a background in healthcare management, Siôn is passionate about quality healthcare. That’s what prompted his decision to pursue further study and explore a Master of Business Administration (MBA). But with so many MBA programs on offer, Siôn was determined to find the best fit for him.
“The initial search for the ‘right’ MBA commenced over 12 months ago.
“UON appeared to have a good reputation for online learning. And the option to specialise in Health Services was extremely appealing, with varied options to study health policy and economics courses, to enable a wide range of topics,” Siôn said.
It was also important to Siôn that his chosen program offered high quality learning and good value for money.
After carefully considering a range of MBA programs at various universities, Siôn chose to study the University of Newcastle’s MBA specialising in Health Services Management.
“It is important that professionals are equipped with a range of tools to assist them in the management of the complex problems within healthcare. We need transferable skills which can assist in public health policy development through to managing a pandemic within a residential aged care facility,” Siôn said.
Siôn’s thorough search for the perfect MBA was worthwhile as he’s found a program he truly enjoys and will prepare him for the career he wants.
“The fantastic content provided by guest speakers is highly engaging. And the practical explanations of health economic theories and how they can be applied into practice is inspiring.”
So, what advice would Siôn give to students thinking about studying at the University of Newcastle?
“Take the time to review whether the course content and specialisations align with your own personal and professional goals.
“I would highly recommend the unique offerings of the Health Economics, Management and Policy courses. It is tailor made to suit working professionals with practical application in the workplace as you go,” Siôn said.
