Armed with a degree in mechanical engineering, Jeshurun Nesaraj kickstarted his professional career – going straight into the workforce for multinational companies Siemens Malaysia and Schindler Malaysia.

While putting technical skills into practice was something that his studies prepared him for, Jeshurun started looking for ways to further his learning. Finding his perfect partner in the University of Newcastle, Jeshurun made the move to Australia to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) (Global).

“After completing my degree in an engineering field, I decided I wanted to venture into the world of business. I'm passionate about not just using the technical details from my mechanical engineering degree but learning more about business and management,” said Jeshurun.

For Jeshurun, the most beneficial part of studying the MBA (Global) at the University of Newcastle has been the diversity of people within the program and being able to develop a greater understanding of international business practices.

“It’s been incredibly rewarding to have students from different parts of the world come together to learn and share their experiences of how business is conducted in their respective countries.

“Along with the peaceful lifestyle and amazing sceneries that Newcastle offers, I also love the work-life balance that I can have here.

“My program is based in NeW Space and it's a phenomenal place to not just attend lectures, but it also provides a conducive place to study and research.”

“My goal has always been to be a successful individual who is ready to tackle both technical and management challenges.

“The most important thing I’ve learnt through my study and work experience is to never be complacent and think that I already know everything, but to always explore because there's so much more out there. So that’s what I’m doing.”
