International Leadership Award - 2019

Sherrill Whittington is an expert with more than 25 years of international experience in women’s leadership and governance, particularly in post-conflict and developing environments. She has worked with Commonwealth Secretariat and the Commonwealth of Learning, the United Nations Secretariat for the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women, UNICEF Headquarters, and the Department of Peacekeeping Operations.

More recently she has been a senior consultant with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UNWomen, and the Inter-Parliamentary Union in the Asia-Pacific Region specializing in social inclusion, governance and peacebuilding in fragile states and countries emerging from conflict.

Her leadership and expertise has been called upon both in developing new policy frameworks, as well as in evaluating existing programmes and activities of organisations including AusAID, GRM International, UNDP in PNG, UNWomen in PNG, UN Department of Peacekeeping and the World Bank.
