Luke Pearson
Indigenous Alumni Award - 2019
Luke Pearson is a Gamilaroi man, teacher, public speaker, trainer and Founder of @IndigenousX, which uses the alternative media space and unique characteristics of the Internet to renegotiate the representation of Indigenous voices.
Luke's passion for IndigenousX stems from his belief in the need to improve Indigenous media representation in Australia and to have a platform for individuals to tell their own stories in their own words.
@IndigenousX has partnered with mainstream media outlet, The Guardian, who presents a weekly Indigenous host and has held the attention of key democratic institutions and decision-makers, who are becoming increasingly engaged with the proliferation of Indigenous voices enabled by participatory media.
