The Family Action Network (FAN) is a research, teaching and practice centre focused on families and their communities. In its commitment to staying at the forefront of current and contemporary practice, the FAN employs theories derived from the latest research to inform its practical initiatives.

In the realm of teaching, the FAN establishes a crucial link between knowledge and community engagement. It facilitates a connection between students and the community, creating a bridge that allows theoretical concepts to be applied in real-world settings. This integration of teaching and community involvement not only enriches the educational experience for students but also contributes to the practical enhancement of family and community well-being.

Recognising the assets and diverse resources within families and communities, the Network aims to foster vibrant, cohesive, and resilient societies.

The FAN is committed to addressing the factors that affect the health, wellbeing, social and educational paths of families, particularly for those challenged by increasingly complex vulnerabilities.

The Network delivers support as well as family and community programs including parenting programs and family inclusive practice programs. The Network is hosting a range of health disciplines in an inter-professional placement unit, and UON student volunteers are participating in our family programs, where they liaise with human service workers in education, health, and family and community services.
