This scholarship is in memory of Miss Valasi Bleazard, late of Lorn in Maitland, who died at the age of 90 at Faleula Methodist Campus in Western Samoa. She was born at Satupaitea in Western Samoa to Methodist Missionaries, hence her princess Christian name. During her adulthood here she had been a teacher of the Piano. Being born in Western Samoa, she was laid to rest in befitting manner at Vaega Satupaitea. This scholarship is to assist a second year female student studying at the University of Newcastle's Conservatorium of Music.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you will need to:
- Be enrolled in 2nd year of the B Music and Performing Arts program with University of Newcastle.
- Demonstrate academic achievement by having a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0 or higher in your current program.
- Be female
- Not be the recipient of another University of Newcastle donor-funded or sponsored scholarship concurrently.
- Preference may be given to applicants experiencing educational disadvantage such as carer, sole parent, financial hardship, English language difficulty, long term medical condition/disability, Geographic, or Indigenous Austrlaliian or refugee status.
Required Documentation

- A personal statement (approx. 1 A4 page) outlining your academic achievements, career aspirations in the relevant area of study, and how this scholarship would assist you. This statement will cover all scholarships you are submitting for.
Benefit
This scholarship provides a benefit of $5,000 paid in one lump sum payment after the relevant semester census date.
Selection
Selection is a competitive process and will be based on assessment of the scholarship application and any required supporting documents.
Educational disadvantage may be taken into account and given preference for this scholarship.
