Career Summary

Biography

Rob is a senior evaluator in the Newcastle Evaluation Group, providing clinical and economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals for the Department of Health, with a particular focus on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, Post Marketing Analysis and Affordability of Medicines, as well as management and supervision of junior members of the Group.

He has also prepared health technology assessments of pharmaceuticals for the World Health Organization, conducted a literature review of the impact of air borne iron oxide on human populations in the Pilbara area and is currently developing a research profile with a focus on men’s health and health literacy.

Rob has a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of New England, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Newcastle and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the NSW College of Law.  He continues to provide sessional teaching support to the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Newcastle, and lectures on Ethics and Law in Nursing and Midwifery.

In addition to working with the Newcastle Evaluation Group, Rob continues to work as a registered nurse in intensive care at the Calvary Mater Hospital (Waratah).  He has previously worked as a family law solicitor (2002-2006), a clinical nurse specialist in intensive care, (Prince of Wales Hospital, 1982-1987; Royal Newcastle Hospital 1987-1991; John Hunter Hospital, 1991-2007), and as a clinical nurse consultant for trauma services (HNEAHS, 1998-2000).
