Biography

Dr. Page A. O. Maitland is a linguist and researcher from Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. She specialises in the field of language contact and change, and in Pacific linguistics, particularly languages of West Papua, Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia. For her Honours thesis (2020) she produced the most comprehensive grammar to date of the Fayu (Iyarike) language of the Lakes Plain family, in remote cooperation with members of the Summer Institute of Linguistics and the Fayu community. Her PhD thesis (2025) took a multidisciplinary approach to examining the effects of linguistic contact on verbal categories in a range of languages spoken across the New Guinea area.
