Biography
Kate Teal-Spicer is an Australian artist, writer and filmmaker from Newcastle, NSW. Kate began her PhD in Cultural Studies in June 2022 at the University of Newcastle, researching female healthcare challenges in NSW, which will culminate in a documentary and accompanying written work.
Kate lived and worked in the UK for seven years, where she completed her undergraduate degree in TV and Film Set Design from the University of South Wales in 2020, graduating with first-class honours. During her time in the UK, she worked within the TV and film industry on various productions including BBC's Doctor Who, the Welsh soap opera Pobol Y Cwm, an independent feature film in London as well as several other projects.
Since returning home in June 2020, Kate began her sole trader business as an artist, writer and filmmaker - working on various exhibitions, murals, art projects and film projects, including a solo exhibition Primary Escapes, the production designer on Luca Brasi's Party Scene music video, and the art director on feature film Beat.
