Career Summary
Biography
Jessica is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist, Practice Educator, and Lecturer in the Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) program at the University of Newcastle. Jessica has practiced as a Speech Pathologist since 2007 working with people with communication and swallowing needs across the lifespan in clinical, research, academic, and workforce development roles. Jessica's clinical practice includes rural and remote generalist caseloads, metropolitan service provision in hospital and community settings, as well as statewide service provision.
Jessica's clinical and research interests include innovative practices in speech pathology to better meet the needs of people and communities. Her PhD research explored and described the implementation of collaborative approaches in speech pathology research and clinical practice, with a focus on children and families. Using mixed methods, her research aims to make the implicit elements of collaborative approaches explicit to contribute to operationalising inclusive and participatory approaches in speech pathology.
