Career Summary
Biography
Dr Jason Palozzi is a lecturer and geoscientist within the School of Environmental and Life Sciences. With a strong foundation in mineral separation, he is an expert in analytical methods and imaging techniques for mineral analysis. Dr Palozzi’s research has demonstrated that Australia’s coal waste streams could be a rich, untapped source of critical minerals essential for manufacturing renewable energy technologies and modern devices. By treating mining by-products as pre-processed mineral deposits, this approach helps mitigate the environmental impacts of long-term waste storage while boosting the supply of ‘green metals’ crucial for achieving net-zero emissions.
