Career Summary

Biography

Heidi is a passionate midwife and newly appointed sessional academic within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She is also a privately practising endorsed midwife at Central Coast Homebirth and course convenor/educator with Acuneedling for Midwives.

Her career goal is the integration of complementary and alternative therapies into the Australian maternity system, giving women options and choice. She is passionate about continuing research in this field and guiding midwifery students to navigate the disconnect between evidence-based woman-led pregnancy and birth and the hospital structure, policies and guidelines.

Heidi is currently completing her PhD examining the feasibility, acceptability and experiences of acuneedling for posterior position during labour and birth.
