From Scholarships to success in IT

Jeny’s journey from India to the University of Newcastle has been filled with opportunities, growth, and the chance to broaden her horizons. After completing her Master of Information Technology, Jeny now thrives as a DevOps Engineering Assistant at the university.

Right from the start, Jeny was able to secure a scholarship based on her merit, easing the financial burden of tuition fees. This allowed her to focus on her studies while also having the means to cover her living and other expenses.

“It’s really comforting to know that you don’t have to pay your full tuition. I could use that money for my living expenses or other expenses that I have” Jeny said.

Throughout her studies, Jeny's highlight was the project work she undertook, which involved collaborating with a live client. This hands-on experience provided her with a real-world perspective, enabling her to understand the expectations and demands of the industry.

“That really helped me a lot in broadening my perspective and understanding what is expected out of me” she said.

Jeny aspires to build and grow her career and credits the university for playing a crucial role in supporting her professional development.

She mentions “it’s such a wonderful uni to be in, with a lot of opportunities that you get. I want to build my career, grow in my career and the University of Newcastle is helping me with that.”

With a supportive environment and a wealth of resources, the University of Newcastle is helping Jeny achieve her goals and shape her future in the field of  IT.
