Eloisa says she found herself interested in several different areas of further psychological study. So much so that deciding on the direction of her master's program was a hard decision.

“I was hovering between wanting to do Business Psychology and Neuroscience, but eventually chose the Master of Business Psychology after much deliberation.

“The reason for my choice was partially because I have been working for the NSW Department of Customer Service.

“I feel that pursuing a master's degree in this area will allow me to enter a new realm of possibilities within the Government sector,” Eloisa said.

While studying her undergraduate program, Eloisa engaged in several leadership and mentoring programs including ILEAD.

“These programs helped shape my career prospects and are ultimately what led me down the track of wanting to pursue the Business Psychology degree.

“I found myself to be in my element. I want to be a positive leader and create positive change, and I believe that I can achieve this in the Department of Customer Service.

The decision to continue studying at the University of Newcastle was easy for Eloisa, as she already felt familiar with the online learning platform and key staff members.

“I've always felt supported by all the lecturers that I have come across, so this made it an easy choice for me.

“I was offered multiple degree opportunities by other universities, but UON is where it's at!” she said.

Still completing her master’s program, Eloisa has loved being able to study online.

“Due to the course being offered 100% online, I find that it fits in with my work obligations,” she said.

Currently working in corporate services as an Organisational Structure Officer for the NSW Department of Customer Service, Eloisa must work with several departments and build relationships.

“I focus on organisational structures for Service NSW, the Department of Planning, Environment, and Industry, the Department of Regional NSW, and all Department of Customer Service Structures,” Eloisa said.

She hopes to use her learning from the Master of Business Psychology to eventually move into an executive or director position.

“I have learnt so many useful skills not only from my degree but from ILEAD too.

“ILEAD taught me leadership and project skills, and my degree has taught me fundamental skills in all the areas I am passionate about: mental health, leadership and HR.

“My career opportunities have expanded, and it only makes me more excited to keep learning and hopefully move into a position at work where I can use these skills,” she said.
