A platform to begin a new career
Jenae is a big believer in trying new things, always working to reach higher and push further, and accepting opportunities when they arise. It’s this mindset that led her to study the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of International Business (MIB) at the University of Newcastle.
After completing a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in psychology and creative writing, Jenae ventured into the workforce – taking on various roles before she got the urge to do something bigger.
“I was looking for my next big move and came across the MBA being offered for the first time in Gosford at a time that was convenient to those who worked full-time hours. The program ticked all the boxes that I was searching for, so I applied and was accepted to begin two weeks later,” said Jenae.
While researching the courses she was going to study as part of the MBA in Gosford, Jenae stumbled across a new course that peaked her interest – the MIB which is delivered in the heart of Newcastle at NeW Space. True to her word of taking on opportunities when they arise, she made the decision to study both degrees at the same time.
“As I made my way through the subjects, I realised the world of business was where I wanted to be, so I took on another challenge and incorporated the second degree – the Master of International Business.
“The MIB program provides an international focus to business – teaching you the superior knowledge and skills to be a successful professional on a global scale.
“The versatility of the MBA/MIB programs is incredible. The foundations can be applied to a broad variety of career paths. I’m lucky to be in a position where I can use my learning to support and grow my current career or even use it as a platform to begin a new career.
“One of the things I love most about these programs is the interactive classroom environment. Most classes are quite small, allowing for a tailored and personal approach.
“Each subject adds an additional dimension to your current knowledge, and you’re encouraged to pull from both your personal and professional life to tailor your experience which will set you up for a rewarding career,” said Jenae.
Looking to the future, Jenae has big career goals she hopes to achieve.
“I’m remaining open to what my future holds but one day hope to find myself working for a Fortune 500 company or another multinational enterprise,” said Jenae.
