Soon after graduating from the University of Newcastle in 2008 with a Bachelor of Business, Nick moved to Atlanta, Georgia, USA, where he worked as a Global Sales and Marketing Coordinator at technology company, Hotel Booking Solutions.

Nick has an extensive amount of experience in the field of Business, most notably, his experience with employment at Google.

“Since July 2011, I've worked at Google in Sydney, Mountain View, San Francisco, and New York. In 10 years at Google, I've helped large brands (including Qantas, Flight Centre, Virgin Australia and more) and agencies to achieve marketing KPIs and measurable business growth, and worked on some of Google’s biggest products—including Google Ads, YouTube, Google Search, Android and Travel.

“Since May this year, I'm leading global product marketing for Exposure Notifications, with a focus on partnering with international public health authorities and countries to launch privacy-safe mobile contact tracing technology to help in the fight against COVID-19 – as well as working with large brands, influencers and creators on co-marketing to build awareness for the importance of scaled contact tracing measures.

“Google is a great company with amazing perks and flexibility, but what I like most is the opportunity to work on projects and products that touch billions of people and working alongside some of the smartest people in the world,” Nick said.

Nick says his experience studying at the University of Newcastle played an important role in his success.

“I had an excellent experience at the University of Newcastle. I enjoyed the flexibility to learn in the classroom and online. I still recall a concept from a class in second year that the future of marketing and products will be all about "you" - personalized marketing and products tailored to the individual, which has come to fruition and been an important concept to continue learning on and apply today.

“The ability to work in groups and collaborate in teams to deliver high quality work to deadlines is one of the most important things any student can learn in order to be successful as a professional. This has been important in equipping me to have a successful career post-University,” Nick said.

Nick was fortunate enough to receive a study abroad scholarship in 2007-2008, where he studied at Clemson University in South Carolina, USA.

"Much of my career today is a result of that study abroad experience, as it was that experience that resulted in me moving to Atlanta after graduation, and the job experience in the travel industry in Atlanta that helped land me my first job at Google in the Travel & Tourism team.

“This experience made a huge impact on me growing as an individual and in the career opportunities that followed immediately after graduation,” Nick said.

Meet Nick, University of Newcastle Business graduate, now working for Google in New York.

I had an excellent experience at the University of Newcastle. I learned a lot of practical tools and frameworks that I still use years later while working at Google.
