The Alumni Medal - 2019

Steven McArthur has made a major impact in the world of fertility and his innovations have contributed to the doubling of successful IVF procedures since the 1990s. In 1999 Steven developed and published on the world first clinical application of day 5 embryo biopsy for pre-implantation genetic diagnosis.

Recognising the lack of accessible fertility treatment in rural Australia, Steven assisted in the design of Australia’s first portable incubator and, more recently, has contributed to the development of the Geri Incubation System – which has seen a 24% increase in clinical pregnancies.

He currently manages an international team of 120, sharing knowledge and fertility expertise globally.
