Beryl Nashar Young Researcher Award - 2019

Dr Serene Yoong is an award winning scientist who has developed an outstanding research track record and established a national and international reputation as an expert implementation scientist in the field of non-communicable disease prevention.

Focusing on supporting education and care settings, such as childcare services and schools, Serene aims to reduce preventable health risks, most notably childhood obesity.

In 2017, she was awarded a prestigious and extremely competitive Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Early Career Research Award to undertake applied research to improve the health of young children in the community.
