Terms and Conditions of Entry

TERMS

  1. These terms and conditions of entry (the “Terms”), apply to the University of Newcastle’s win a signed Newcastle Knights jersey competition (the “Competition”) and entry into the Competition is deemed to be acceptance of these Terms.
  2. The promoter of this Competition is the University of Newcastle, ABN 15 736 576 735 located at University Drive, Callaghan, NSW 2308 (the “University”).
  3. The Competition will be open from 5pm Australian Eastern Standard Time [AEST] on Monday 4 July 2022 until 11:59pm Australian Eastern Standard Time [AEST] on Wednesday 6 July 2022 (the “Competition Period”).
  4. Entry in the Competition is open to any members of the University of Newcastle community, excluding:   

    a.  persons who have used or attempted to use any more than one name in order to qualify to win a competition run by or on behalf of the University (except in the case of a legal change of name); and

    b.  persons who have breached the terms and conditions of any competition run by or on behalf of the University,

    (an “Entrant”).

  5. The University is responsible for determining whether a person is eligible to enter the Competition in its absolute discretion.

  6. To enter the Competition, Entrants must publish a comment onto the University of Newcastle’s Competition Facebook post, which states the most recent year that the Newcastle Knights won the NRL Grand Final along with memories they have of the occasion.

    (an “Entry”).

  7. To be eligible to win the Competition, the Entrant must have a Facebook account and must make their comment publicly available.

    JUDGING AND PRIZE

  8. Judging of all Entries received during the Competition Period will be conducted by a panel made up of professionals from the Marketing and Communications Office at The University of Newcastle, Callaghan Campus on Thursday 7 July 2022.  The panel will select, in their absolute discretion, the winning comment.

  9. The Entrant who submitted the winning comment on the original Facebook post will win the prize detailed in paragraph 11 below (the “Prize Winner”)

  10. The Prize Winner will receive the following from the University of Newcastle:

    1. 1 x signed Newcastle Knights jersey
    2. 2 x tickets to Newcastle Knights vs South Sydney Rabbitohs at McDonald Jones Stadium at 8pm on Friday 8 July 2022 (the “Prize”).
  11. The Prize Winner acknowledges that the Prize is subject to additional terms and conditions imposed by third party prize suppliers. The Prize Winner must become acquainted with any such additional terms and conditions prior to taking the Prize. The Prize Winner must comply with all conditions imposed by any prize supplier. The University does not accept responsibility and is not liable for any condition imposed on the taking of the Prize by any other third party prize supplier or a breach of those conditions by any person. The Prize remains the property of the University and/or prize suppliers until it is received by the Prize Winner.
  12. The Prize Winner will be notified via a comment reply on their original comment on Facebook by 12pm AEST on Thursday 7 July 2022 that they have won the Prize. The Prize Winner must accept or reject the Prize by 11:59pm AEST by Thursday 7 July 2022. The Prize Winner must collect their prize from the University of Newcastle, University Drive, Callaghan 2308, or provide their preferred postage address for the University of Newcastle to mail the prize at the University’s expense.
  13. The total prize value of the Competition is AUD $246.00
  14. The Prize Winner agrees to provide the University with evidence that the Prize Winner meet the eligibility criteria set out in paragraph 4, upon request. The form of evidence required is at the discretion of the University. If the Prize Winner fails to provide evidence to the satisfaction of the University in the time frame advised by the University, the Prize will be forfeited.
  15. Prize Winners consent to the University using their name, likeness, image and/or voice in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this Competition (including any outcome).
  16. If the Prize is unclaimed or forfeited for ineligibility it will be awarded to the Entrant whose entry is considered by the panel of judges, in their absolute discretion, to be the next best, most original, and creative. The new Prize Winner will be notified by 9am AEST on Friday 8 July 2022 and must accept or reject the Prize by 5pm AEST Friday 8 July 2022.

    GENERAL
  17. Unlimited entries permitted per person.
  18. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. Prizes must be taken as offered and may not be varied.
  19. The University accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of the Prize.
  20. The Prize Winner is responsible for all expenses not specified in these Terms.
  21. The Competition is a game of skill. Chance plays no part in determining the Prize Winner.
  22. If, for any reason, the Competition is not capable of being run as planned, including due to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud or any other causes beyond the control of the University, which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Competition, the University reserves the right in its absolute discretion to take any action that may be available to it, including cancelling, terminating, modifying or suspending the Competition.
  23. Any Entrant who, in the opinion of the University, tampers or interferes with the Competition in any way, engages in any unlawful or improper conduct which jeopardises or is likely to jeopardise the fair or proper conduct of the Competition, or who does not properly comply with the entry process, will be ineligible to win.
  24. Incomplete, illegible, offensive, rude or incorrect Entries are not eligible to win.
  25. The University reserves the right to disqualify Entries in the event of non-compliance with these Terms. The University's decisions in relation to all aspects of the Competition are final and binding on each Entrant and no correspondence will be entered into.
  26. By entering and participating in this Competition, each Entrant agrees to hold harmless and indemnify the University, the University’s related entities, and Facebook or Instagram from and against any and all claims, demands, liability, damages or causes of action (however named or described), losses, costs or expenses, with respect to or arising out of or related to:
    1. a breach of these Terms by an Entrant;
    2. an Entrant’s participation in the Competition; or
    3. an Entrant’s participation in any Prize related activities; or
    4. acceptance of a Prize and/or use or misuse of a Prize,

      including, without limitation, any property loss, damage, personal injury or death caused to any  person(s).
  27. The Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated  with, Facebook or Instagram.
  28. Entrants of the Competition who publish a comment deemed by the Promoter’s panel to  be inappropriate, defamatory or rude will have their comment removed, and their Entry and all  subsequent Entries removed from the Competition.

    PRIVACY POLICY
  29. The University will collect your personal information for the purposes of conducting the  Competition. In doing so, the University may disclose your personal information to its  contractors, agents, any partner or co-promoter and to State and Territory gaming departments.  The Prize Winner’s name may be published as set out in these Terms. The University may also  use Entrants’ personal information for any promotional, marketing and publicity purposes of the  University. Additional information about how personal information is collected, used and  disclosed, and the privacy complaints process is available in the University of Newcastle Privacy  and Information Access Policy available at https://policies.newcastle.edu.au/. The University of  Newcastle Privacy Policy does not form part of these terms and conditions.
