Combination majors

Media Production combined with Animation

Students undertaking the Media Production Major in the Bachelor of Communication program can elect to undertake the Animation Major from the Bachelor of Visual Communication Design program.

This combination of Majors will allow you to develop in-depth skills in audio and screen production for a wide range of media platforms. Not only will you develop professional skills in production, this combination will allow you to develop characters, narratives and scripts.

You will be able to bring your projects to life in project-based courses. Your projects will form an integral component of your production show reel. In the courses you will be working collaboratively in teams and groups developing sought after work place skills.

Experience Creation combined with Interaction and User Experience Design

Students undertaking the Experience Creation Major in the Bachelor of Communication program can elect to combine this with the Interaction and User Experience Design Major from the Bachelor of Visual Communication Design program.

For students interested in interactive media like games, advance web design, user driven experiences and emerging technologies this combination will allow you to explore your creative potential. You will explore, though practical engagement, the links between interactive and narrative design for a wide range of media forms.

In this combination you’ll be developing interaction using AR/VR technologies, computer scripting languages, and screen-based production tools. Throughout the courses you will be rapidly developing and testing prototypes – these are highly attractive skills in the media and design industries. You will also be developing other sought after skills in collaborative production planning and management.

Performance combined with Media Production

In the Bachelor of Music program students undertaking the Performance Major can elect to pair this with the Media Production Major from the Bachelor of Communication.

This pair of Majors not only offers you the opportunity to develop your musical performance skills but also the opportunity to showcase your skills using a wider variety of media production tools. This could mean developing your own score and audio to complement a video production or bringing your knowledge of music to the public in podcasts or online media. Or, you could use this combination to develop and promote your professional aspirations. Images tell us what to think; sound tells us how to feel. Expand your career opportunities by developing skills that link sound and image.

Songwriting and Production combined with Animation

If you are undertaking the Bachelor of Music Major in Songwriting and Production, you can elect to pair this with Animation Major from the Bachelor of Visual Communication Design program.

Whether you have a passion to be a songwriter or to produce beautiful music combining these skills with animation opens up another world of opportunities. The Animation Major will give you skills in character development, narrative design and transmedia production. It will also give you skills to work in both 2D and 3D animation environments.

Interaction and User Experience Design combined with Media Production

Students undertaking the Interaction and User Experience Design Major from the Bachelor of Visual Communication Design program can elect to pair this with the Media Production Major in the Bachelor of Communication program.

This combination of majors will allow you to develop skills in design thinking and apply this knowledge of production process to a range of interactive and narrative media forms.

You will explore, though practical engagement, future facing skills in media production for screen design and prototyping as well as creative skills in audio and moving image production. You will, though production, develop sought after professional skills in production planning and management.
