What is UniVerse?

UniVerse is the brand new National Campus Writing Competition. Students from eligible campuses across Australia are invited to submit up to 3 pieces of non-fiction to be seen by a panel of industry professionals for the opportunity to win industry-relevant prizes and experiences.

To be eligible, submissions must be entered via the Online Portal between 11th June and 29th August, 2019, must address the designated theme and must be 1000 words or less (a maximum of 3 submissions permitted per student).

The winner will be announced on 23rd September, 2019.

The theme for 2019 is the student experience.

No two experiences are the same when completing your tertiary studies, but someone can always relate - capture the essence of the student experience in a non-fiction piece.

Think you can nail it? We do.

Eligible submissions will be judged by a panel of industry professionals, who will select a shortlist, and ultimately the category winner.
The shortlisted finalists will have the opportunity to be exhibited at tertiary campuses across Australia in the following calendar year.

The winner of the non-fiction competition will score the following:

  • a one-week paid Internship with Crikey Media in either Sydney or Melbourne
  • publication of the winning piece, via Crikey Media if appropriate
  • $500 worth of cash and vouchers
