Our career services and resources have been designed to assist you in developing the capacity to achieve your career goals. Whether it is gaining part time work while you study or clarifying your longer term goals and connecting with industry, there is a service or resource that will fit your current career needs.
Our services are available to all current students and graduates of the University.

Need help with your resume? Want to find out about your future career possibilities? Drop by and talk to one of our friendly Career Consultants to get some useful feedback on your job applications or to discuss your broader career questions.
Before attending a consultation, you might like to access the wide range of resources available in CareerHub. These will help you to make a start on writing your document. It's also useful to bring along a draft copy of the application that you are working on if you have one. If you don’t have a resume, we can help you make a start.

At Callaghan campus, the Resume Express service is available Monday – Friday, from 9.00 am – 4.30 pm. Check in at our reception desk in the Student Services Centre, Room 3.06 (upstairs from the Hunter Hub).
At NewSpace campus , the Resume Express service is available on Tuesdays 10am to midday – look for the Careers & Student Development banner on the ground floor near the coffee shop.
At Ourimbah campus, the Resume Express service is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays between 1pm to 4pm at the Student Hub - book ahead or just drop in.
At Sydney campus, the Resume Express service is available by appointment only via CareerHub at https://careerhub.newcastle.edu.au
Need more than 10 minutes? If you have a number of questions or need a longer chat, you can attend a 20-minute Careers Consultation.
Careers Consultations are available at the Callaghan Campus (Student Services Centre, Room 3.06) at the following times:
2:00pm - 4:00pm
1:30pm - 3:30pm
2:00pm - 4:00pm
10:30am - 12:30pm
11:00am - 1:00pm
At the Port Macquarie campus, the TAFE Counselling and Careers Service can provide careers services to UON students and graduates. To book a consultation, phone 1300 628 233. Alternatively, you can book a consultation in person at Student Central in the Library.

We have a major presence on the University website, but mainly use the CareerHub site for our online delivery of services:
- workshop bookings
- appointment bookings (for Ourimbah, City and Sydney campuses)
- careers resources – including information sheets, links to useful websites and FAQs
- information on upcoming events
- job search tool – casual and part-time work, vacation work and volunteer opportunities, graduate positions, and overseas jobs
Some of us prefer to learn by seeing, doing and asking questions. We offer workshops on a range of employment and career topics, including: career planning, job search, working in Australia, job applications and interviews, and social media and your career. Often the best careers advisers are the people currently working in your fields of interest. No matter whether you are in your first or final year, developing industry contacts will be important for your career.
Our on-campus include expos, employer or professional association information sessions, and networking activities. We also advertise similar off-campus events that are relevant to our students. You'll find all event details listed on our website and in the Events section on CareerHub.
