What is Green Week?
Green Week is back for 2020 to once again turn the spotlight on sustainability.
We have an exciting week of events and environmentally-friendly initiatives lined up that will help you positively impact the Earth and your life.
Whether you want to make a reusable mask, plant some trees, or get your hands dirty in our Community Garden, there's something for everyone! Make sure you tag us in your Green Week adventures with #UniNewcastle.

Monday 21 September
- Food organic bins
All day, Callaghan eating areas
The University is rolling out a trial of food organic bins throughout the Callaghan campus eating areas. These areas include the Hunter Food Court, Bar on the Hill, and areas across the Shortland Building where any type of food waste is accepted.
This initiative aligns the University’s Environmental Sustainability 2019-25 plan target of achieving a 70% recycling rate for general solid waste generated across the University by 2021.

Newcastle University Student Environment Club (NUSEC) will host a campus clean-up. Come along and help maintain our beautiful bush campus.
Tuesday 22 September
- Community Garden Gala Day
11.30am - 1.30pm, Oval 4 (Callaghan)
A fun-filled day of music, planting, giveaways and interesting ways you can get involved in some green initiatives at home, at uni or within your local community.

11.30am - 1.30pm, Oval 4 (Callaghan)
The Sustainability Store is the place to chat all things green with a member of our Sustainability Team. They will have some sustainable treats to hand out too!

Our regular free lunch will be run with the aim of reducing our impact on the environment. This will include more sustainable options and less packaging.

Friday 25 September
- Bush Regeneration Planting
8am - 11am, Callaghan
The Uni Regeneration Team and NUSEC will run a free tree planting morning to help with regeneration efforts. Meet at the Architecture bridge anytime between 8am – 11am and someone will take you over to meet the regeneration team - Sydney Green Week

For the fourth year we will be taking Green week to Sydney Campus. Swing by campus and pick up your free all in one grow kits and find out how else you hand reduce your impact on the environment.
