Unisounds

What is Unisounds?

Unisounds represents a fresh, new approach to the traditional band comp dynamic, presenting a shot at a world-class prize pool to more aspiring acts than ever.

Six artists will be shortlisted to compete live in a final in Sydney, for a chance at over $100K in prizes. Win or lose, hundreds of performers will step into the gaze of the highest levels of the Australian music industry - a prize in itself. Unisounds is open to solos, duos, bands and this year, for the first time, Electronic Music Producers!

Wait, what happened to the National Campus Band Competition?

This is it! Unisounds is the rebirth of the National Campus Band Competition: one of Australia's longest running talent discovery events that's given artists to your ears like Jebediah, Augie March, Eskimo Joe and Dappled Cities.

UON is on a winning streak, with our very own Jones the Cat and Mr. Sauce winning the 2017 and 2018 competitions, respectively. Both acts walked away with over $100K worth of prizes, including an international record release. Can we make it a hat-trick in 2019?

My band plays Pirate Metal - are we eligible?

Argh, 'tis the truth, me hearties. Unisounds is open to all genres - from solo acoustic to death metal, country to EDM, rock to pop, folktronic to psychobilly, doom, clownstep, Mongolian throat rapping and dinosaur metal* - phew!

The only catches are that you must be able to perform a 20-minute live set should you reach the finals stages, and you need at least one band member in a prominent role who is attending UON (or another institution that is a current member of the Tertiary Access Group if you don’t happen to be a UON student. In that case… how did you find this page?).

*all real genres

How do I apply?

Glad you asked.

It's easy! Visit the Unisounds website, create your account and start loading your audio tracks, videos, photos and anything else that will get the judges' attention (Bribes not accepted).

Judges will review your completed profile and select 6 finalists in late August 2018.
